Cooking is fun!

Cooking doesn’t have to be complicated. I grew up in a typical cuban house hold where I would watch my mother effortlessly make delicious meals every day.

Recently I’ve embarked on a vegetarian diet lifestyle. That being said, I’ve had to give up on a lot of the typical cuban food, at least the meat portions. I can still eat rice, beans, maduros, tostones, and more! Oh my! 🙂

I’ve always wondered how meat alternative meals were created. I started playing around with combining different plant based ingredients while applying the same basic seasoning my mom would typically use. I’ve learned just how easy it can be and have been able to sustain this new eating habit.

Now I wonder, why didn’t I realize this sooner?!

There are a multitude of benefits when it comes to a vegetarian diet. It’s not only better on the environment and healthier for our bodies, but it’s more economical if you’re on a budget too. Yes, that’s right! It can cost less if you plan it out right.

I will be posting some traditional cuban recipes based on how my mother used to make them. However, as I move forward in my new vegetarian journey I will be exploring new meatless alternatives and coming up with my own easy vegetarian recipes as well.

I will also be exploring different brands of meat alternatives and showing how I incorporated them into my meals.

It’s fun to get a little creative with these meat alternatives and coming up with delicious meals. I now have a freezer stocked with yummy options for any day of the week.
